Walk - FAQs
Our Goal: To build a massively fun FUNraiser and FUNDraiser for many local schools and education projects.
Walkers register, then can raise pledges online that will be credited to THEIR favorite nonprofit cause.

Join us in Penetencia Creek Park, San Jose California for the fundraising walk of the year on Saturday May 28, 2016 - Memorial Day Saturday.   Walkers register online, then select their favorite nonprofit to champion aka raise money for.  Walkers raise pledges online for their favorite charity.  Then thousands of us walk for youth through scenic Penetencia Creek Park, in San Jose.

Q: What type of walkers walk in Walk for Our Local Youth?
A: The walk is open to ANYBODY!  The course is flat and accessible and scenic.

Q: Can I add my favorite nonprofit group as a potential beneficiary?
A: Any not-for-profit organization (501(c)3) may apply online.  Applications are reviewed and approved or denied by Opening Doors 2020, the walk host.  Nonprofits apply here:

Q: Who manages the money?
A:
All money is managed by the event host Opening Doors 2020, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation.  Pledges made in the name of a walker are generally fully tax deductable (though check with your tax professional for more information.)

Q: How is the money distributed?
A: Organizations recruit pledge getters. The pledge getters ask friends/family/co-workers/neighbors/etc to make online donations.  Pledge getters can also collect checks or cash donations.  After the walk, Opening Doors 2020 tallies all money collected from all pledgers, credits money to nonprofits as per walkers' selections, and distributes payments to our beneficiary nonprofit partners.
